How You Can Help
Sponsor a Student
Given their circumstances, the government does a decent job of providing "elementary" education; grades 1-6. Almost every village, no matter how small, has a government school house and teacher. It's almost always one room, and there's one teacher for all six grades.
It is possible to continue school after the sixth grade, but parents must pay the expenses for their children, and they're rarely able to afford it. It's a large sum to them...$300 per year.
For the 2005 school year, we are supporting over 50 students in secondary education. We're able to do this through the generous contributions of many who have adopted a student. Click this link Scholarships to see pictures of some of the students being supported.
We have many sponsors. They're located in New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Georgia. My apologies to those whose students are not pictured. I hope to keep adding photos as we make return visits.
If you'd like to adopt a student for secondary education, please contact me by e-mail. The school year has begun for 2005, but there will be a long list of names needing help for 2006.
