Cingular Wireless now works in Honduras, and from our front porch! It's expensive...$2.30 per minute. But if you need to make or receive messages...you now can.
Rigo also has a cell phone in Gualaco. His phone number is 011-504-9902-4622.
Rigo doesn't speak English, so when the phone is answered, repeat the following: "Tang-o men-sa-hay ur-hin-tay por los americanos. Voy a ya-mar esta noch-ay a las ocho."
Rigo will find us. But since we won't know who is calling, you will have to call back. Call at 8:00pm Honduras time...we will be there waiting for your call. (Honduras is on Central time but does not use daylight savings time. In the summer they are one hour behind central time in the states... 8:00pm in Honduras = 9:00pm in Dallas. During fall and winter, they are on the same time as Dallas.)
You will need cash for lunch when we arrive ($3-5), a few soft drinks during the week ($3-5), the airport departure tax ($35) and souvenirs. Most people can buy all their souvenirs for $20.
Passport
Film (the new security machines will ruin film in your checked bags)
One change of clothes (just in case your luggage doesn’t make it)
Alcohol wipes
Prescription meds
Remember
to save $33.00 for departure tax to leave Honduras!
Things you might want to bring for the kids:
Balls – soccer balls, whiffle bats & balls
Bubbles (pack in baggies in case they leak)
Jump ropes
Jacks & balls
You can wear shorts, but they have to be LONG!!
For working in the sun all day, you might want a lightweight long sleeve shirt, hat, & sunscreen. Don’t forget your leather work-gloves!
Remember a journal or notebook, pen(s) (they tend to
disappear), and your Bible.
