Pat Hendry from Plano, Texas, has taken hundreds of pairs of new and gently used children's shoes to the valley.  She persuaded local department stores to sell her the balance of their "end of season" products for $1 / pair.  Members of the McDermott congregation donate gently used shoes, socks, and children's clothes.  This is a real blessing to the local people as most children do not have shoes.

Prior to making a trip, your congregation could collect shoes and clothing for children, too.  The local congregations have a benevolence committee to help with distribution.
