TELEPHONE / EMERGENCY CONTACT

AT&T Wireless now works in Honduras, and from our front porch! It's expensive...$2.30 per minute. But if you need to make or receive messages...you now can.

Pablo Padilla is our coordinator. His phone numbers are: cell 011-504-9699-7581 Home 011-504-789-2309.

In case of an emergency at home, call Pablo.  He doesn't speak English, so when the phone is answered, say the following slowly:
"Tang-o men-sa-hay ur-hin-tay por los americanos. Voy a ya-mar esta noch-ay a las ocho."

Pablo will find your group leader. But since they won't know who is calling, you will have to call back. Call at 8:00pm Honduras time...they will be there waiting for your call. (Honduras is on Central time but does not use daylight savings time. In the summer they are one hour behind central time in the states... 8:00pm in Honduras = 9:00pm in Dallas. During fall and winter, they are on the same time as Dallas.)

DO NOT WEAR OR BRING ANY GOOD OR VALUABLE JEWELRY OR LOTS OF MONEY!

You will need cash for lunch when you arrive ($3-5), a few soft drinks during the week ($3-5), the airport departure tax ($38) and souvenirs. Most people can buy all their souvenirs for $20.

IN YOUR CARRY-ON BAG:

* Passport

* Camera

* One change of clothes (just in case your luggage doesn’t make it)

* Alcohol wipes

* Prescription meds

* Remember to save $38.00 for departure tax to leave Honduras!

Things you might want to bring for the kids:

Balls – soccer balls, whiffle bats & balls

Bubbles (pack in baggies in case they leak)

Jump ropes

Jacks & balls

You can wear shorts, but they have to be LONG!!

For working in the sun all day, you might want a lightweight long sleeve shirt, hat, & sunscreen. Don’t forget your leather work-gloves!

Remember a journal or notebook, pens (they tend to disappear), and your Bible.
